Lorenzo's Oil is a 1992 drama movie by George Miller. It is based on the true events of Augusto and Michaela Odone, two parents in a difficult search for a cure for their son. Their son named Lorenzo suffers from adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). The movie was nominated for two academy awards. The shootings took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from September 1991 to February 1992. At the start of the movie , Lorenzo, who is played by Noah Banks & Zack O'Malley Greenburg is a smart boy full of life, living in the Comoros Islands, as his father Augusto has a job in the World Bank and is located there. All seems fine but when the family moves back to the United States, Lorenzo starts to show neurological issues, like loss of hearing, tantrums, etc. The boy is diagnosed later with a disease known as: adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a disease that is fatal within two years. Not able to find a doctor of treating their son's rare disease..
